Personal Narrative

The murder of George Floyd reminds us that racial injustice is still endemic in our society. The Fall 2020 issue of URBANa magazine created, edited, and published by students of Columbia University GSAPP’s Urban Planning Program–was titled Dialogues, dedicated to pieces on racial and spatial inequity in urban planning and the design fields. My personal narrative closed the publication with an opinion piece on the urban planners’ role in addressing systemic racism and the future of the profession.
